I absolutely love to travel, embark on adventures and experience different cultures and I believe that in order to be a great Actor or Filmmaker you need to get out there and see the world. Some may say.. "I have been to film school and Acting school, I already know everything, what does travel have to do with anything, ?" The answer is A LOT !!

I have been fortunate enough to have journeyed across the UK, Indonesia, USA, South America and even around my own beautiful home of Australia to almost every city including the Red Center (most of it by car). I have even lived back in my original home town in Scotland for 12 months where I worked in Edinburgh for a company called Historic Scotland which allowed me to visit some of the most remote and amazing historical sites and castles.
So what does this have to do with Acting or Film-making? I truly believe that in order to give a true performance and tell a good story with substance and meaning, life experience is a must. Acting and Film School along with courses are great as they give you the foundation and skills required to become a successful Actor however the experiences and knowledge gained from travelling not to mention the people you meet and stories you hear is something you can never find in a classroom or in a book.
I tend to live a spontaneous life, some would say the life of a Gypsy and it is not hard for me to just pack up and go if and when I can't shake a feeling. I rarely overthink things and although some may this to be crazy and risky, living this way, I have experienced some of the best and some of the worst circumstances of my life, non that I can say I regret. These experiences have shaped me and allowed me to become a more well rounded and grateful person. I have met some amazing and interesting people and have listened to their stories. I have also witnessed happiness in poverty and I have witnessed loneliness in wealth.
All of these memories and feelings are stored in my journals, my mind and in my heart and when I read or write a script I can unlock what I need and draw on these experiences adapting them to my characters journey. The thoughts and actions of the characters then become REAL as I am applying the reality of memory in my voice, through my actions, in my words, through my heart and my emotions.
I believe you should never let your mind rule your heart, which is probably why I find it so hard to settle down in one place !! You only live once and life is there for the taking along with the experiences that come with every decision you make and every moment you experience.
I will leave you now with two of my favorite quotes :
